Weekend Harvest

Sometimes a picture is worth 1,000 words. Brad’s Black Heart (on left), Azorean Red (right), and a truck load of Avamatoes.

Hot! Habanero, Thai Hot, Ghost Peppers

It was a good harvest for the weekend.

  1. OMG those tomatoes are out of this world. I’ve grown tomatoes but this is huge. Are they organic and do you sell seeds. I’m also a hot pepper fanatic. Love your harvest.

    1. Thank you. The Azorean Red was about 1.5 pounds. The Brad’s Black Heart was just over a pound. The Avamatoes (aka current tomato) is too small for me to weigh. They are mostly organic but I doubt the seeds were certified organic and I know the garden is not certified. I have not sold seeds in the past.

After years of trying an increasing number of habanero peppers in recipes, especially sweet recipes like the peach and hot pepper chutney and roasted tomatillo salsa, that the ghost pepper is the only one to cut through the sweetness and add a little heat. We are still trying to find a good use for the Thai Hot Peppers. I am drying some and making a fermented hot sauce with others, but I have not used them yet. I have eaten some off the plant and they do have a nice little kick.
